Ralph Bentley,
MD (right) and Dave Grogan (left) lead the 2007 Community
Campaign for United Way.
How fortunate we are to live and
work in Iredell County. Our quality of life is coveted by
many. What makes our community so special is the way we all
work together. United Way of Iredell County is a leader in
community building. We are pleased to serve as the 2007 Community
Campaign Chairmen. Our need is great this year and we want
to explain why.
The United Way Board of Directors
has studied and analyzed our campaign and funding history
over the last ten years. What we have found is that our funding
to community agencies to meet critical needs is not keeping
up with inflation. Essentially, our agencies are having to
operate like senior citizens on fixed incomes. Too many people
are having to go without the help they need and we MUST do
something about it. We can't turn teens away from learning
about healthy lifestyle choices; we must not tell homebound
elderly citizens we can't add them to our senior nutrition
delivery routes. We MUST do better! We KNOW that we can!
United Way works to improve lives
by mobilizing the CARING POWER of communities. United Way's
goal is to provide services that strengthen families and individuals
creating lasting change in their lives. Your United Way dollars
helped 80,848 people in 2006. The United Way agencies depend
heavily on United Way funding to address priority needs in
our community.
This year, we invite you to share
in the pride of knowing we are doing our part in strengthening
our entire community as we move to a new level of generosity
and service.
