Giving of your time can be a rewarding
experience. United Way and each of its member agencies, in
addition to other community agencies, depend on volunteers
to help carry out important programs and services. |
- Allocations/Fund Distribution
- During the United Way allocations process, volunteers
from throughout the community come together to review agency
funding requests, budgets, program information and community
needs. This process offers donors a chance to be heard and
make educated decisions about how they want their United
Way dollars to be spent.
- Board of Directors -
United Way of Iredell County is governed by a local board
of directors made up of concerned community volunteers.
United Way strives to maintain a board of directors representing
a cross-section of the community, to make decisions about
United Way policies that will most benefit our community
as a whole.
- Campaign - Each year
more than 100 volunteers from throughout our community make
calls on companies, businesses, local organizations and
individuals to distribute materials and pledge information.
Campaign volunteers are dedicated to helping United Way
spread its message and raise funds in the community.
- Office - With only four
paid staff members, the United Way office can always use
a helping hand making calls, preparing mailings and handling
other day-to-day office needs.
- Internships - Communications/Marketing
internships are available throughout the year for high school
and college students, as well as others interested in obtaining
hands-on experience in the communications field. Projects
include writing for local newspapers, project coordination
and desktop publishing projects.

Your
support of United Way helps thousands of local people each
year! Each dollar that
you give works throughout the year investing in our children, caring
for our handicapped, fighting family violence, helping our elderly,
feeding our hungry, providing affordable day care, treating emotional
problems, providing emergency services, battling health problems
and caring for our terminally ill.
|
"
I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates
the soul of the giver."
Maya Angelou |
Every dollar makes a difference
in our community! For instance, did you know...
- $1 per week - allows Fifth
Street Shelter Ministries to buy 364 pounds of food from the Food
Bank of NW North Carolina.
- $5 per week - provides 13 counseling
sessions at the Counseling Center of Iredell for victims or survivors
of physical or sexual abuse.
- $10 per week - allows the Iredell
County Kidney Dialysis Organization to provide 1,000 miles of
transportation for patients needing life-saving dialysis treatments.
