what matters.

best practices matter

To achieve our goals, we are re-designing how we do what we do and we will engage a broader representation of the community. As all successful businesses do, we are implementing "best practices" we have reviewed from other successful UWs around the country. We will continue our own "best practices" that have gotten us to where we are today, but you will be seeing some new outreach from us…all with the sole purpose of raising more dollars to help more people.

We have successfully sought new, younger leadership to join the experienced volunteers to benefit from their fresh ideas and untapped energies.

Achieving these goals will enable United Way to maximize funding available to our highly-valued Community Investment process for annual funding to our member agencies, and…

At the same time double and re-double our new Emerging Needs Grant program enabling the community to access more immediate funding to direct toward unmet needs and new efforts to address critical issues.

ADVANCING THE COMMON GOOD
Agenda for Lasting Change

After two years of study of community needs, services to meet those needs and United Way's history of funding these services, the board and staff of United Way of Iredell County have taken a bold step to lead this community in transformation of community conditions. Together with our many partners and with the continued support of the people of this community, we adopted the following goals to improve lives of our citizens:

United Way has set financial goals over the next two years of raising $2 million by the end of 2009. This represents an increase of 25% over the $1,625,000 raised in 2007. Our Community Campaign goal for 2008 is $1.8 million to provide significant additional dollars to help more people. In the best of economic times this would be a challenge. In the current economic environment it is of even greater importance that, together, we achieve these goals.

It's all very exciting! We hope you'll join us.
